1/26/2004 14:41:37 play online chess | Subject: improve chess at woodpushers
Message: The Woodpushers, a great team, we are only just over 2 months old and are already in the top 20. Although of recent we have had unfair challenges, our captain has finally started doing very fair challenges, for example, check out the last 5 team challenges that we have accepted. As a team, we are having some members of the team that will be an instructor, they will be like a mentor coaching and improving there chess. Therefore…..it will take a lot of dedication and hard work, lots of analysis work and that will be done by both players. Therefore, I am offering a gameknot member regardless of there rating, to come and join us now, and you will be teached to play chess. Even fairly high rated players such as 1800 players can also apply, as we have a very strong team. Please reply on this forum and via our captain davism if you want to apply. Please send an application to us, and tell us why u want to improve, how much effort and dedication you will put in, to improve your game, and lots of effort to help the team. We will also want you to be very very active on our team forums and write lots of posts, you must be a hard worker.
Remember, this is a chance to join this team, and dramatically improve your game, you must send in a very good application, we are not bothered about rating but dedication. Therefore, please tell us about yourself in detail
We look forward to your application
Best regards
woodpushers

Message: This team encourages cheating. It's captain does not even have posting or messaging privileges. See the two threads in team forum dated 12/26 and 12/27
entitled "cheater....this is wrong". Stay away from this team and team captains do not play this team. They are documented cheaters.

Message: to the Team Forum for posting a message like this (for a team never under suspicion for cheating!). I will not vote this to the Team Forum because I think it was unfair that my thread was voted over there. But the point remains to be made.

Chess news:
Armenia takes possession of 1st place at Chess Olympiad -- The Russian chess team — touted as the strongest ever assembled for a Chess Olympiad — was derailed in Thursday open division play in round seven of the chess tournament by the defending gold medal Armenian team 2.5-1.5, which took sole possession of first place. In the only decisive game of the chess match, Gabriel Sargissian defeated Alexander Grischuk on board three. The other three games were all draws, with Armenian Levon Aronian versus Vladimir Kramnik on board one, Vladimir Akopian versus Peter Svidler on board two, and Tigran L. Petrosian versus Dmitry Jakovenko on board four. The win gave Armenia 6.5 match points out of seven. France, Germany and ...
Armenia retains top spot in Chess Olympiad -- Top-seeded Russia held off the United States in the 38th Chess Olympiad in round eight of open division play Friday, but the Armenian chess team crushed France and stayed in first place. In women's division play, the U.S. team dealt a severe blow to the medal hopes of the Russian chess team, also the top seed, beating it 3-1. The win gave the U.S. team 6.5 match points to keep it in a second-place tie with several others. The U.S. was led by Irina Krush, who beat women's world chess champion Alexandra Kosteniuk on board one. She sacrificed a pawn on move 16. Her compensation was dubious until Kosteniuk misplaced her rook. Kosteniuk managed to come up with ...
First-place teams defeated in round 9 of Chess Olympiad -- The mighty were brought low as the first-place chess teams in both the open and women's divisions fell in round nine on Saturday. In the open division of the Chess Olympiad, Israel played the role of David, knocking off Armenia 2.5-1.5. On the women's side, Serbia edged China 2.5-1.5. The U.S. women's medal hopes suffered a severe setback as Poland beat them 3-1. The U.S. men, already virtually eliminated from contention by Russia in round eight, crushed India 3.5-1.5. There were a number of other upsets in the open section. Ukraine downed top-seed Russia 2.5-1.5; 22nd-seed Serbia beat fourth-seed Azerbaijan by the same score. Sixteenth-seed Vietnam held fifth-seed Hungary to ...
