i have a 1200 rated friend, he is going to play a rated match/ simul with 10 players rated 900. suprisingly this is allowed if I wanted to I could play
( being under rated as is he)50 1200 players at the same time! as long as there is 400 points between you and the person you play a match with it is allowed, this was told to me by a 1900 rated td mabye there should be a rule to prevent that?

Chess news:

200 Years of Charging Knights and Kings in Check in Zurich -- In 1809, Robert Fulton was granted a patent for the steamboat, Abraham Lincoln and Charles Darwin were born and Napoleon’s armies marched across Europe. That same year, several residents of Zurich founded a chess club called Schachgesellschaft Zürich. It was not the first — at the time, there were already chess clubs in London, Paris and other cities — but Schachgesellschaft has survived, and, 200 years later, it is said to be the oldest in the world. Let's hope he has time to rest before his tough schedule starts at the end of the year. He may want to follow Magnus Carlsen's example. A year ago, Carlsen was reaching for the world's top spot. The 18-year-old Norwegian chess star is currently rated third behind Veselin Topalov and the world chess champion Vishy Anand. Since withdrawing ...

Viktor Korchnoi shows age is no barrier to skill -- At age 78, Viktor Korchnoi remains awesome. The chess legend who fought two world title matches was the star of the chess tournament played alongside the England v Netherlands match, finished third, beat the winner Jan Timman, and averaged over 60 moves per game. Other greats like Emanuel Lasker and Vassily Smyslov have been strong in old age, but none has remained so competitive as the man who, as a child, survived the siege of Leningrad by using ration books of dead relatives. The game below was Korchnoi's fastest win at Simpsons in the Strand, and is interesting from several aspects. His opponent Terence Chapman backed the chess event as well as playing in it. As ...
