Yeah, he was a very strong player, no doubt about that, but #10 all time? And where is Capa?

Chess: Magnus Carlsen Is Master of the Late Rally — When he was ranked No. 1 a few years ago, Veselin Topalov got into a strange habit of falling behind in chess tournaments before storming back to win. Magnus Carlsen, the current top chess player, is following a similar pattern. He won the Bilbao Chess Masters event on Tuesday, but he had to rally to do it. He won two of his last three games, including one over the early leader, Vassily Ivanchuk, to tie for first. He then beat Ivanchuk in a two-game blitz playoff. It was the third time in the last two years that Carlsen had to overcome an early deficit to capture first place. In 2010, he did the same thing at the Tata Steel chess tournament in the Netherlands and the London Chess Classic. He also made ...

Message: So, if there are repeated threads, why not repeated posts? I'm actually crazy enough to save what I post (or, at least, most things). Here is what I posted in the last "top ten" thread:
The Informant publication, which I believe would likely only be read by serious chess players (or people who really, really WISH to be serious chess players!), conducted a poll of their readers on the 10 best players of all time. I'm going by memory (it's somewhere on the internet, but I'm too lazy to find it now because the address is strange), and here is the final selection in order of greatness:
1. Fischer
2. Kasparov
3. Alekhine
4. Capablanca (ok, these four I know are in the right order-- from here on, I'm not 100% sure of the order)
5. Botvinnik
6. Tal
7. Karpov
8. Lasker
9. Korchnoi
10. Anand
Now, I don't know how Anand got onto this list...
I guess the poll was conducted during his strong string of tournament victories, but I'm sure he would not make the list today.

Message: 10th world computer chess championship was hold from july 5-11 in the Netherlands. The winner was Junior after 2 tie-break games against Shredder. Junior(7.5) Shredder(7.5) Brutus(7.0) Quest(6.0) Diep(5.0) Warp(5.0) Parsos(4.5) Chinito(4.5) Goliath(4.5) Isichess_X(4.5) Ikarus(4.5) and so on. The games was played with 60 moves in 2 hours and 30 min for rest of the game. 9 rounds by the way.
I am not sure if it was this info you asked for Frodan or you meant the Gulko vs Computers match were Gulko drew both games against Deep Junior, lost one and drew one against Deep Fritz, lost one won one against Shredder, and drew one lost one against Hiarcs 8.
Then there is the Smirin vs Computers match were Smirin did very well with 2 draws against Deep Junior, one draw one win against Tiger, one win one draw against Shredder, and 2 draws against Hiarcs 8.
